Hiking course in Koli

Are you hesitant about camping alone in the woods? Do you want to gain experience and knowledge before your first overnight hike? Would you like to go on a longer hike, but you're not sure what you should consider?

This hiking course offers you the perfect opportunity to learn overnight hiking skills with a guide. During the course, you will gain experience and learn skills to create the foundation for your own overnight hikes and longer hikes. There is time for free discussion, and you will receive answers to any hiking questions that concern you. The course focuses on learning by doing; participants will prepare their own meals with their camping stoves, set up tents, and participate in orienteering as we progress along the route. You do not need any prior hiking experience. The trail is classified as demanding, and the level of difficulty is considered in the length of the journey. Normal fitness is sufficient.

The course takes place in the southern part of Koli National Park by walking part of the Kiehiset Trail. The route passes through hilly and varied terrain, and we will cover about 10 km over two days. Along the way, you will see the lesser-known parts of the national park and rare gems, such as the views of Lake Herajärvi from Vesivaara and the Rykiniemi beach, which is magnificent with its sandy beach and the Pielinen lake. You will also get to practice crossing the water on the Herajoki cable ferry! We will spend the night in Rykiniemi. We reserve the right to change the route.
